Transportation Supervisor

Route, dispatch and supervise drivers to ensure safe and accurate delivery of product. Supervise Smith owned equipment and lease/rental equipment.  Supervise drivers to ensure strict compliance to DOT, FMCSA, and local laws/standards. Oversee the H2A driver pool for the site.



  • Interview and hire/re-hire drivers
  • Prepare and process new hire/rehire paperwork
  • Monitor driver qualifications and ensure all are up to date
  • Administer DOT Drug Testing program for Marysville
  • Route local delivery routes daily
  • Route Alaska routes when needed
  • Assign drivers to trips and equipment daily
  • Assign equipment as needed to dispatch trips to contract carriers
  • Dispatch trips after assigning start times to ensure maximum night deliveries.
  • Dispatch trips departing from contract farms as needed
  • Ensure drivers are eligible to drive according to “Hours of Service”
  • Coordinate with other sites to maximize efficiency in delivery of product
  • Coordinate with site departments to ensure trips depart on time
  • Facilitate the transfer of equipment and supplies from site to site
  • Maintain daily report of equipment use or availability to use
  • Respond to emergency situations such as driver accidents
  • Settle each trip for drivers pay once complete. Ensure accuracy
  • Process invoices by trip, scan, and send to AR
  • Make delivery appointments with vendors
  • Actively participate in the Marysville Site Management team, attending meetings, reporting on status and sharing concerns
  • Actively participate in weekly Transportation team meetings
  • Back-up for other Transportation Supervisors
  • Minimal travel for training and user conferences



  • Working knowledge of general trucking practices and procedures
  • Skilled at managing 20 to 30 drivers
  • Ability to communicate clear and effectively in a professional manner
  • Comfortable in an office environment
  • Able to learn different Transportation software.
  • MS Office experience


  • 3-5 years of work experience in transportation field preferred
  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience
  • Fleet supervision a plus
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
