Irrigation Lead

Responsible for daily irrigation, fertilization and scouting of crops. Coordinate with Section Grower to determine how to meet crop cultural needs. Assist in maintaining environmental controls, pest management, sanitation of area, and crop layout.


  • Coordinates work of 1 -2 Irrigation Staff.
  • Responsible for using the “Language of Watering” to communicate detailed instructions involving daily irrigation, fertilization, and applications of crop protectants.
  • Exercise IPM strategies. Performing drench or spray applications of pesticides, fungicides, growth regulators efficiently while following safety regulations.
  • Monitor and assist Section Grower with the management of the environment, both with manually and automated programming.
  • Assist with pest management, area sanitation, and crop layout.
  • Systematically scout for major pests, proactively contacting Section Grower with questions or concerns.
  • Measure EC, pH, and alkalinity of irrigation water and crop media, logging or reporting results with Section Grower.
  • Willingness to work longer hours seasonally as crops require.
  • Support and enforce all company policies and rules.

  • Knowledge of basic bedding plant identification and basics of when a plant watering needs.
  • Capable of applying fertilizer and crop protectants with appropriate rates for each plant.
  • Understanding of the importance of safe applications of all pesticides, fungicides, plant growth regulators, and disinfectants.
  • Previous leadership experience a plus.
  • Able to use spraying equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.


  • Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds in an environment that is often hot.
  • Continuously walk, stand, bend, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
