JOB SUMMARY:  The Material Handler is responsible for receiving and verifying delivered goods, communicating, and supporting inventory accuracy and department productivity.                                      

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:        

  •  Receive materials delivered to site, sign off on BOL after verifying quantities.
  • Communicate with Home Office on supplies, acceptable substitutions and problem solving on inventory changes.
  • Monitor inventory for shortages and adjust stocking levels.
  • Working with other departments on their inventory quantities.
  • Print UPC’s, pricing labels, as required.
  • Preparing and staging transfers.
  • Load and unload trailers.
  • Operate with a solid commitment to safety processes and CI culture.
  • Maintain, 6S and update areas with visual controls, safety guidelines or procedures as needed.
  • Cross train into other positions for backup.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.

     

     COMPETENCIES: 

    • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff and with hard goods purchasers at the home office.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment, with attentioto detail.
    • Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
    • Teabuilding and interpersonal skills.
    • Reliable and punctual.
    • Self-motivated, positive attitude and work ethic.

     

     QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

    • Solid computer experience and knowledge of MS Word & databases.
    • Excel proficiency with formulas and pivot tables.
    • Experience working tracking inventory & conducting counts.
    • Experience working in a shipping & receiving office environment.
    • Experience operating a forklift.
    • Operating experience with compactor preferred.
    • Automated pallet wrapping experience is preferred.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work long hours as needed during busy season, including weekends.
  • Continuously walk, stand, bend, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for extended periods of time.
  • Work indoors and outdoors, according to the seasonal temperature and weather.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
